ROCKDALE COUNTY – On Thursday, June 20th, at approximately 12:44 AM, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a person shot in the 2600 block of Golfview Terrace. Upon arrival, they discovered that 24-year-old Kyla Cooper had been fatally shot.
Detectives believe the shooting occurred following a verbal altercation between Kyla Cooper and Arkia Tate. Arkia Tate was arrested and is facing charges of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a felony.
A second individual, Rashad Thompson, was arrested at the scene for charges unrelated to the murder.
The incident is currently under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
**Update** The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office has received the autopsy results for Kyla Cooper, and the results indicate that Ms. Cooper was not pregnant.
