ROCKDALE COUNTY – To ensure the safety and well-being of our community’s youth, on August 20, 2024, the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners passed ordinance O-2024-10 to amend Chapter 66: Offenses and Miscellaneous Provisions, of the Rockdale Enact Ordinance, creating a juvenile curfew for minors 16 years of age and younger. This ordinance is designed to protect minors from potential harm and to support their positive development.
Curfew Hours:
- Weekdays: 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM
- Weekends: 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM
Exceptions:
- Accompanied by an Adult: Minors who are accompanied by a parent, guardian, or a person who has lawful care or custody of the minor are not subject to curfew restrictions.
- Events: Minors traveling from school functions, a religious activity, or a place of public entertainment such as a movie, play, or sporting event, must be home within 30 minutes of an event ending.
- Emergency Situations: Minors who are running an emergency errand for a person who has lawful care or custody of the minor are not subject to curfew restrictions.
The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Deputies are dedicated to enforcing the juvenile curfew ordinance Any individual 16 years of age and younger, who is unaccompanied by a parent or legal guardian, will be deemed in violation of this ordinance and the parent or legal guardian will receive a fine.
