Community Outreach
Ambassador Program
The Ambassadors Program grants passionate citizens residing in Rockdale County the opportunity to serve their community. RCSO AP has a volunteer foundation, however, allows citizens to operate in the capacity of the face of the agency. There are three pillars of the Ambassadors Program:
I. Pillar ONE- Citizens Academy: This pillar is designed for dedicated civilians who see the benefits of understanding the day-to-day operations of the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office. The Citizen Academy includes ride-along(s), firearm safety, division tours, self-defense tactics training, etc.
II. Pillar TWO- Volunteers in Patrol: This pillar is designed to reduce crime by having citizens within the Ambassadors Program patrol their own neighborhoods and report any suspicious or criminal activity by calling 911.
III. Pillar THREE- Community Support: This pillar is designed to allow volunteers of the Ambassadors Program to assist the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office in answering non-confrontational/non-life-threatening calls for services. Calls for service include but are not limited to Assisted motorist (vehicle lockouts and traffic hazards), Animal complaints, Trees down, Electrical wire(s), Stray animals, Dead animals, Work traffic, Abandon auto, Illegal dumbing reports, Flooding, etc.
The Ambassador Program is designed to create an environment where all persons involved (community, volunteers, and Deputies) are comfortable building a positive encounter between citizens and law enforcement. In addition, the program will allow volunteers to have a true understanding of some of the functions a Deputy Sheriff is required to handle.
Ambassadors interested in Pillars TWO and THREE are required to complete Pillar ONE.
