ROCKDALE COUNTY – On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at approximately 8:25 PM, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to a person-shot call in the 3000 block of Barcelona Way. Responding deputies located a 23-year-old male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital and later succumbed to his wounds.
Detectives believe there was a verbal altercation over laundry between the victim and Deshaun Khalil Elder approximately one hour before the shooting. Mr. Elder was located at the scene and taken into custody without incident.
Mr. Elder was charged with Felony Murder (F), Possession Of Firearm Or Knife During Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Felonies (F), and Aggravated Assault (F).
