The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Captains are responsible for directing all operations of a single assigned division, including the Administrative Services Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Field Services Division, Judicial Services Division and Support Services Division, or to the Jail Division as the Assistant Jail Commander. Our Captains develop and manage the goals and objectives of their assigned bureau; They coordinate work processes and implementation; prepare schedules; coordinate with other divisions, jurisdictions, residents and agencies. They review and assist with development of agency policies and procedures, directs and makes decisions in supervising, training, counseling and disciplining staff; reviews and takes appropriate personnel action. Our Captains assist with preparation and implementation of the direct vision budget; evaluates the adequacy of existing personnel, facilities and equipment and recommends appropriate replacement, alterations and additions. They oversee and approve budgeted expenditures, directs ivision operation to include: monitoring communications and activities and responding to incident scenes, taking command, if needed; participating in major programs, strategic planning and project development and implementation; oversees the development and distribution of various reports; analyzes data to monitor current traffic and crime activity; reviews and resolves complaints; appears in court to testify; direct and assist in writing specifications for equipment and supplies and may evaluate bids; maintains inventory of capital assets; develops and implements training programs. Employees in this classification may be expected to perform any related duties as required by proper authority.
