Amanda Pilgrim began her career 20 years ago at the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office as
Detention Deputy. She later was promoted to a Deputy Sheriff in 2002 after Graduating Clayton
Regional Police Academy. She was assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division as Patrol Deputy until
2005 when she was promoted to an Investigator assigned to the Crime Scene Unit and obtained
her Crime Scene Technician Certification through GA POST Council. In 2006, Amanda followed
her passion and transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division where she worked her way up
from working General Crime to Major Felony Cases. In 2014, she decided to take her career to
another level. She worked to rise through the ranks of Corporal, Sergeant and Lieutenant
serving in the Uniform Patrol Division. In 2017, Amanda became the Assistant Commander of
the Criminal Investigation Division. In 2018, she became the Commander of the Criminal
Investigation Division when she was promoted to Captain. In August of 2020, she became the
Commander of Support Services which consist of agency’s vehicle fleet, logistics, supply, ground
and maintenance, IT technology, Hiring and Recruiting, Human Resources, Training and Property
and Evidence.
She strives to lead by example by being professional, committed, fair, and consistent. She
encourages professionalism, integrity, and accountability by holding public servants to higher
standards and expectations. Her experience in various areas of the agency has prepared her for
not only personal growth but for the agency’s growth. Her dedication and loyalty to the agency
and the community has always been her number one priority. One of the most honoring and
awarding accomplishments to her has been being a public servant to each citizen of Rockdale
County. She works to create more open lines of communication between officers and civilians
while working to build trust.
Amanda has served on the Rockdale County Child Fatality Review Board; Domestic Violence Task
Force panel; Rockdale County Public School Superintendent’s Advisory Council;
Newton/Rockdale Suicide Prevention Coalition; RCSO Merit Board for two terms; Project
Lifesaver and the RCSO Explorer Cadet Post leader and advisor. She has also overseen many
projects and programs including the Salem Road Fieldstone/ Country Walk clean up, community
block parties to restore public trust in law enforcement, the first implemented RCSO” Fill the
Bus “Back to school event and supply drive in 2016 and the 2016 RCSO Breast Cancer Ball and
fundraiser.
Amanda was recognized and awarded the Meritorious Service Award in 2008, Investigator of the
Year in 2009; awarded several Letters of Commendation from RCSO through the years, a Letter
of Appreciation from an ADA with Rockdale County District Attorney Office in 2013 and a
Certificate of Appreciation for Service to the Community in 2016 issued by Sheriff Levett.
