A Bond

A bond is an amount of money in cash or surety bond for the purpose of making sure a particular person attends all required court appearances.  Bail allows an arrested person (defendant) to be released from jail until his or her case is completed.  A property bond, cash bond or bonding company may be used to bond a person out of the Rockdale County Jail.

To Bond Someone Out of Jail

The following may be used to bond a person out of the Rockdale County Jail:

Cash Property Bond:
For a property bond, the property must have the current year’s property taxes paid. If the property is in Rockdale County, every person listed on the deed must come to the Rockdale County Jail to sign the bonding paperwork. To post a property bond on property located in another county, the property owner must go to the Sheriff’s Office in the county where the property is located and request an out-of-county bond.  Some Sheriff’s Offices may require certain administrative fees to be paid before a property bond will be issued.

Cash Bond:
To post a cash bond, payment may be made by cash, traveler’s check or a cashier’s check equal to the total amount of the bond.

Bonding Company:
Bonding companies provide bonds for incarcerated persons.  Bonding companies usually charge a fee — typically 12 to 15 percent — of the total amount of the bond.  The bonding company must be pre-approved by the Rockdale County Sheriff.

The following is a list of bonding companies currently authorized to write bonds for the Rockdale County Jail. The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office does not recommend any of the following companies, but does provide this list merely as a convenience.

Bond Refund

The Rockdale County Jail does not process bond refunds at the Jail or Sheriff’s Office.  For a bond refund, the person who posted the bond will need to come in person to the Rockdale County Jail with the person who was bonded out of jail and surrender the individual to the Jail.  The person who posted the bond must then petition the courts for any monetary refund.
