Rockdale County Citizens:

As we await information as to how Hurricane Irma will impact the United States and especially our region, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office would like to ensure readiness, keep the community informed and provide reassurance to citizens that we will be here with you every step of the way.  We are currently reviewing our internal plans while our leadership is preparing schedules.  We are also conducting assessments to measure what our potential response should be.

If you are not currently signed up for CodeRED, I personally encourage you to do so immediately.  This system is used to send messages – by email, text and phone calls in the event that we have an emergency situation within the county.  Your information is strictly for internal use and you will never have to worry about any outside organization gaining access.  I ask that you go to our county website at www.rockdalecountyga.gov under the Resident Resources tab by clicking CodeRED on the right side of the page to sign up.

I strongly encourage all residents to be prepared and stay informed.  I will make sure to keep constant updates on our Facebook (www.facebook.com/rockdalesheriff) and Twitter (@rockdalesheriff).  We will do our very best to provide you with the latest, most up-to-date and accurate information.  Also, please use sources like the National Weather Service, The Weather Channel, and state and local media for information.

A good idea to be prepared is to keep an emergency kit on hand and have plans for everyone in your home including pets.  Anticipate the worst, hope for the best and know that we are already working hard for you.

Sincerely,

Eric J. Levett

Sheriff
