Captain John Mumford is the Commander of the Judicial Services Bureau, which is responsible for warrants and civil papers, courthouse security, and inmate transport.  He has been with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office since 1985, and has served under four sheriffs.  Captain Mumford has worked in the Uniform Patrol Division (now Field Services Bureau), the Criminal Investigation Division, and the Judicial Services Bureau.

Captain Mumford has served in every supervisory position in Field Services and Investigations.  He has received his Intermediate, Advanced, Supervision, and General Instructor certifications form the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.

He has received specialized training in traffic enforcement, serious injury and fatality crash investigations, search and seizure law, and ethics. Captain Mumford attended DeKalb College and is a graduate of the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University.
